Why Harthing exists

We went looking for this and could not find exactly what we wanted, so we decided to build it. Between us we let a handful of properties and manage them ourselves, and we wanted one place that handled the repairs, the certificates, the money and the tax for a landlord with one or two homes.

Most of what we tried did one part well: the accounts, or the certificates, or the repairs. We wanted all of it in one place, with a record underneath that holds up when someone asks.

So the principle is a short one. A landlord with two properties should have the same tools as a landlord with two hundred, in plain English, at a price that makes sense for one or two homes.

The other half of it is the record. Since May 2026 a possession case turns on evidence, and for more landlords every year tax is a quarterly habit rather than an annual panic. Both reward the person who wrote things down at the time, which is hard to do when you are busy. Harthing writes them down for you as you go, in a form other people can rely on when it matters.
